Young Historians: An Oakland Outing to Grant Park

Although Oakland is considered Atlanta’s first green space, our neighbor to the south – Grant Park – holds the honor of the city’s oldest public park. Founded in 1883, Grant Park and the surrounding Victorian neighborhood is one of Atlanta’s most significant historic districts. Join us for a walking field trip around Grant Park and a special visit to the Lemuel P. Grant Mansion, the second oldest house in Atlanta and birthplace of Bobby Jones. Age: Recommended for ages 7-12. Experience a different side of Oakland Cemetery with Young Historians, Historic Oakland Foundation’s educational program for homeschool students and their families. Each program will explore a special topic and offer opportunities for students to learn in Oakland Cemetery’s unique setting. Young Historians programs are from 10 a.m. to noon. Programs will be held inside the Visitors Center and outside on the grounds of Oakland Cemetery. Each two-hour Young Historians program includes games, fun activities, and tours designed to engage and educate. Tickets Students: $8 Students (HOF member): $6 Adults: Free
