      Dekalb Water Treatment Plant Tour - Nov 16 2019 - 10:00AM

Ever wonder about DeKalb County water quality?   Ever wonder who determines a “boil water advisory”?  and WHY? Ever wonder WHO processes your tap water?  And HOW they do it? Wonder no more…. Join Keep Chamblee Beautiful in a unique tour of DeKalb County’s Scott Candler Water Treatment Plant! See the water intake pumps! See the high-tech control room!  See the testing laboratory! Learn what it takes to provide clean water to the entire county! Be impressed by the statistics!  Be one of the few to see the inner workings of DeKalb County’s ONLY water treatment plant. Keep Chamblee Beautiful has made arrangements for a private tour inside this facility in Doraville on Saturday Nov 16 from 10:30AM to 12:00PM. During the tour questions that will be answered: Where does our tapwater come from?  Will we run out of water at some point?  Is Dekalb County water safe to drink or do I need to keep buying bottled water? Why do we always have “boil water advisories” and do we really need to do that?  What can we do to conserve / preserve our water sources and usage? What do you wish residents would do differently and how can Chamblee residents help disseminate that? How does plastics and other litter affect the water quality?    This tour is limited to 20 City of Chamblee residents ages 12 and up (children must be accompanied by a parent).  The tour includes 90 minutes of standing and walking. Please consider your mobility before you RSVP.   This is an active plant so athletic closed-toed shoes are required (NO sandals, peep-toes, mules, or flip flops will be allowed.) The plant is located at Winters Chapel Road in Doraville. Detailed directions to the start of the tour will be sent to all registrants before the event.   This is a free event, but if you are not a Keep Chambleau Beautiful member, consider a donation of $5.00
