Alternatives To Violence (AVP) Advanced/Second Level Workshop-November 2019

AVP Advanced/Second Level Workshop  This workshop is for individuals who have completed the AVP Basic workshop and who are ready to develop a deeper understanding of concepts, principles, and tools of nonviolent conflict resolution and transforming power introduced in the Basic AVP workshop. A focus topic will either be announced in advance (TBD), or early in the workshop participants will choose a focus topic to work on as a group. You will continue to work on building your capacity to implement nonviolent alternatives in your life.   Location: Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur GA Saturday & Sunday, November 16th & 17th  9:00am -- 6:00 pm All administrators and facilitators are volunteers. Lunch is provided both days and registration is required for all participants. No one is excluded due to lack of funds. The AVP Workshop series consists of 3 workshops:   Basic/First Level, Advanced/Second Level and Training for Facilitators. Those who complete all three workshops are eligible to apprentice on workshop facilitation teams and to become AVP facilitators.   This workshop will be an Advanced/Second Level workshop only. You must have completed a Basic AVP workshop before attending this Advanced Workshop.  Current AVP facilitators and those who have completed an Advanced workshop before are also invited to attend and participate in this advanced workshop for the full hours. Advanced workshops are always different based on the interests of the attendees. You may attend as many advanced workshops as you wish. ***Are you interested in our Training for Facilitators (T4F) workshop? See FAQs Below*** FAQs Once I've completed the Advanced workshop, when will I be able to attend a Training for Facilitators (T4F) workshop? We have the possibility, depending on interest, to offer a T4F workshop the weekend of December 14&15. If you will have completed a Basic and Advanced workshop by that time and are interested and available to attend please SAVE THE DATE and let us know of your interest by emailing georgiaavp@gmail.com.  We can only move forward with the T4F on this date if we have enough eligible participants who are able to attend. What if I am not available for the entire two day, Saturday and Sunday workshop? This experiential workshop is based on building a community which builds trust among participants and requires that everyone be present for all activities. We certainly understand that this is a significant time committment and ask that you only attend if you are able to fully participate for the two days. You will be surprised how engaging and thought provoking this experience will be! What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Parking for this event is next to the workshop building. We will send details concerning exact workshop location to registered participants. There is a MARTA bus route to this workshop location. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Feel free to email georgiaavp@gmail.com or call Karen at 404-797-8079 with any questions about AVP or this workshop. We welcome the opportunity to discuss our work in the community and in local prisons. What's the refund policy? We will take registrations and cancellations until Wednesday, November 13th at 9:00 pm.  We must have confirmed registrations by Wednesday at 9:00 pm to purchase and prepare materials and food for the workshop. This program is offered entirely by volunteers.  We have established a minimum and maximum number of participants per workshop and will refund all registration payments if the minimum number of participants is not reached.
